One day ,for some reason,Akhbar became displeased with his wife,Begum. He ordered her to leave the house and told her that she can bring along any objects which is dear to her. The dejected Begum didnt know what to do , a thought suddenly occurred to her.She sent for Birbal and explained the situation to him. He then thought of a plan ,Birbal left after telling what the Begum have to do .The Begum started packing her belongings.

Then she invited Akhbar for a glass of sherbet.Which he took without objection. After Akhbar drank the sherbet, he felt sleepy. He went into a long slumber. The Begum ordered that the Palanquin be readied. With the sleeping emperor in the palanquin ,the Begum Sahiba in the other, left to Agra.

In a few hours they reached the Begums fathers house. Her father was happy to see her but was surprised to see the emperor sleeping. She informed her father that she will explain later and to make arrangement for the emperors stay. After an hour, the emperor woke up. He was surprise to see that he was in his father in laws house. When Begum arrived, he inquired what he was doing there. The Begum said that the king was the one who ordered her to leave, thus she has come to her fathers house. Since the emperor had given permission to carry away anything that was dear to her, she felt that there was nothing more dearer for her then her husband ,the emperor. Hearing this the emperor got angry at first , after some time he felt so amused and started laughing and told Begum that it was indeed a clever move .

He was happy and invited the Begum to return back to Agra. He then asked who had given the Begum such a clever plan. And the Begum answered,Birbal. Of course!. After this incident ,the Begum felt ever obliged to Birbal for restoring her to her husbands favour.
